How it works
Degrees or radians?
Tap DEG/RAD to switch. In degree mode, sin(30) = 0.5; in radian mode, sin(π/6) = 0.5. The current mode shows at the top of the display. Most high-school problems use degrees; calculus usually uses radians.
What does the 2nd key do?
It switches several keys to their second function for one press: sin → sin⁻¹, cos → cos⁻¹, tan → tan⁻¹, ln → eˣ, log → 10ˣ, √ → ∛, x² → x³, xʸ → ʸ√x, 1/x → |x|, π → e, and nCr → nPr.
How do I enter roots, combinations, and scientific notation?
Two-number functions use a comma: root(27,3) = 3 is the cube root of 27, and nCr(10,3) = 120 is the number of ways to choose 3 items from 10. For scientific notation, use EE: 6.02E23 means 6.02 × 10²³.
Does it follow the order of operations?
Yes: parentheses, then exponents, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Note that −2² = −4 (the square happens first), while (−2)² = 4. You can also skip the × sign: 2π and 3(4+1) work.
Can it do factorials of decimals?
Yes. It uses the gamma function, so 0.5! = 0.886226925453 (which equals √π ÷ 2). Whole-number factorials are exact up to 170!.
